Solimar Releasing PDF/A Optimization Module
April 11, 2013Expanded PDF Output Options Include Improved Content Access for the Disabled
SAN DIEGO, CA — April 11, 2013 — Solimar Systems, Inc., a leading global provider of production printing and secure document delivery solutions, today announced the release of a PDF::PDF/A conversion module as part of Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise (SPDE) version 7.5. SPDE is a software solution that provides print stream conversions for production print and electronic delivery environments. The new SPDE PDF::PDF/A module expands PDF output options to include multiple versions of PDF/A which address long term archival requirements and models for improved document accessibility.
Providing support for PDF/A helps organizations to archive important data and can help people with disabilities who use assistive technologies (such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, joysticks and other tools) to navigate and read electronic transactional content like invoices, financial statements and insurance policies.
“One benefit of PDF/A is to allow users with disabilities to gain a more reliable way to interact with digital content,” said Mary Ann Rowan, Solimar CMO and VP of Sales. “However, the benefits of PDF/A extend beyond helping people with disabilities. By leveraging PDF/A, reader software can reflow text onto small screens, provide powerful navigation options, transform text appearance, improve search engine functionality, aid in the selection and copying of text, and more.”
The Solimar PDF/A Module will accept PDF input files and output any of the following versions:
- PDF/A-1a
- PDF/A-1b
- PDF/A-2a
- PDF/A-2b
- PDF/A-2u
- PDF/A-3a
- PDF/A-3b
- PDF/A-3u
When combined with SPDE’s other conversion Modules, PDF/A output is now supported from most production print streams including LCDS, Metacode, IPDS, AFPDS, Xerox VIPP®, PCL and PostScript.
“Solimar leverages the power and flexibility of PDF across our entire product suite from data stream conversions, indexing, document re-engineering, tracking and management all the way through archiving. The addition of PDF/A support is a natural extension for our clients to expand their PDF centric workflows,” said Rowan. “The PDF::PDF/A Module will enable organizations to easily produce PDF/A output for their archiving needs in an automated workflow at the speeds required for high-volume transactional environments.”
The Solimar product line enables thousands of organizations around the world to easily expand and control their enterprise output management processes by providing robust data transforms, device optimizations, document re-engineering, e-presentment and workflow tracking. Building on a 22 year history of successful technology development, the PDF::PDF/A Module further demonstrates Solimar’s continued commitment to delivering powerful output management solutions for its clients.
