PostScript Conversion Modules

The PostScript printer emulation modules of the Solimar® Print Director™ Enterprise (SPDE) enable printing PostScript applications onto production and distributed printers that support AFPDS, PostScript, Xerox Metacode, or IPDS print streams and archiving systems that support TIFF or PDF files.

PostScript::AFPDS Module

This output is typically used to produce output for archive systems and printer front-end systems that support AFPDS.

PostScript::IPDS Module

Supports IPDS cut-sheet printers and two-up formatting for continuous feed printers. This module works in conjunction with the IPDS Print Controller output module. This output module provides the bi-directional communication to the IPDS printers from the Solimar print server.

PostScript::Metacode Module

This output can be formatted and automatically directed to Xerox LPS printers via SCSI SDI, BUS/TAG, and offline tape. Xerox LPS printers require the graphic handling option for printing images.

PostScript::PDF Module

High-speed conversion of PostScript into compressed and searchable PDF files. Font embedding and compression can be customized along with the creation of PDF Thumbnails.

PostScript::PostScript Module

Robust interpreter can “normalize” PostScript files for compatibility with any Level 2 interpreter that otherwise could not process the job by creating DSC compliant PostScript output files.

PostScript::TIFF Module

This module supports special DPI settings including Fax Standard 204×98, and Fax High 204×196. By nature, class F TIFF images are black and white, so color controls are not included in this module.

  • Supports PostScript levels 1, 2 and 3 applications from any platform
  • Supports TrueType and Adobe Type I and II fonts
  • Double byte font (DBCS) or Asian languages support: Chinese – Mandarin and Cantonese, Vietnamese, Armenian. These are also referred to as CJK fonts for Chinese, Japanese, Korean
  • Supports highlight color and color biasing in text and images
  • Supports up to six feed drawers and custom paper sizes
  • Typical conversion speeds are 1000+ ppm on a Pentium 800 PC
  • Supports Xerox VIPP® files when enabled with Solimar’s SOLscript™ VIPP emulation
