But let’s go back to the beginning, March 28-30, Caribe Royal Hotel in Orlando, FL,  Xplor invites industry beginners and experts to attend Xploration 17. And who would say no, knowing, from previous years how much you can learn, how happy the community of printing professionals is, to share their successes and even failures, insights and open questions.

It’s a least 20 years the Solimar Systems team has been attending Xplor conferences in the USA and globally. We usually sign up for a small booth, presenting some of our solutions, but mainly as a meeting point for our customers and those who require post-composition solutions. And it’s always a fine balance for those on our team who man the stand, whether or not they can leave the vendor floor to attend a learning session or whether they stay there, approachable for questions. We usually do it in “shifts” so everybody gets the chance to attend their sessions of choice while other remain behind. But for some panels, and in particular keynote speeches, we all decide to listen and learn and make sure we can share what we’ve just learned with those who weren’t able to attend the event.

What’s keeping you up at night?

Three major areas seem to be keeping everyone awake at night these days (including ourselves when it comes to communication, it is a tough one these days, Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z, Digital Nomads, Digital Immigrants, Digital Askets, paper lovers, paper haters, mobile lovers, mobile haters, Facebookers, Tweeters, Snapchatters, Instagrammers, LinkedInners, power emailers, you name – can we reach them all, how? Is Omni-Channel the holy grail, or Multi-Channel, or Paper + Augmented Reality, or email only and forget about the rest? Or PDF/accessible PDFs? – even after Xploration we don’t have all the right answers, but we most certainly can share much more details, insights, and options with you):

  • The migration to inkjet and everything that comes along with it, from purchase across changes to existing processes to maintenance (we could add a long list of possible headaches for this one, too; which vendor, speed, roll/cut sheet? What type of ink? What processes need to change, never mind any related software. How about assessments, change management for all teams involved? And then the maintenance question, all in, or just some options? What about some training… you get the idea)
  • Changes to the way we communicate, whether we’re looking at a generation or a communication channel
  • The challenges we are facing with all the changes to processes, teams, equipment and much more (don’t get us started on this one; kudos though to the guys who presented us with very hard learned lessons; thank you for being so open about it!)

We’re still working through all the notes we took, both from the meetings we had with those who stopped by at our booth and the sessions we attended as we want to make sure we’re prepared for your next challenges.
