Where People Go to Find Great Print, Workflow, and Dashboard Technology in 2018
The print industry is a large and complex space. Some of our clients participate in direct mail, others in wide format and promotional print and then again others play in a more niche, but economically critical, transactional print. As technology continues to advance and markets become more global—some might even say cosmopolitan—we get asked a lot by our clients and partners where we go to share our knowledge.
With such a diverse and widespread industry, the answer for Solimar Systems is live and in-person events. It fits the nature of our relationship first approach to solving print and digital communications/promotions challenges. We have found over the last 25 years (more actually, as we look back), that there is nothing like speaking to someone in person and being able to show them something that makes that connection. PDF Day in Washington D.C. – January 29, 2018
This event is put on by the PDF Association and is charged with the latest information on what today could be argued as the most widely held and accepted print and digital format. A PDF is recognized not only by experts such as ourselves but also has meaning and usefulness every day to consumers. And if you want to learn more about it, where PDF is headed and how to leverage it for your communications, this is a great event. 2018 Inkjet Printing Conference – February 7-9, 2018
Inkjet printing continues to see significant growth and technological advancement. But how do you make sense of it all and what will fit your production environment? Conferences like IMI’s Inkjet Printing Conference focus on technical aspects of inkjet printing to help organizations make the leap and then optimize for the best outcomes. In fact, our own Dan Beery will be presenting on the Science of Estimating Ink. Something you won’t want to miss if you have or are looking at an inkjet press.
CSUN Assistive Technology Conference – March 19-23, 2018
For some print markets, assistive technology has become critical to complying with government regulations and providing the right customer experience. These technologies in print span from braille printing to PDF/UA, commonly known as Accessible PDF. If you are interested in assistive technology for your customers, this is one of the oldest and most widely attended conferences in the U.S. And, with it being right in Solimar’s San Diego backyard, we will definitely be there to share our knowledge and expertise, especially around PDF.
Inkjet Summit 2018 – April 9-11, 2018
Also known as IJS, this conference is a by invitation only event. In order to qualify for an invite, you have to meet certain criteria for interest in inkjet printing, buying timeframe, budget, and volume. If you can’t get an invite this year because of the competition, reach out to the organizers early for 2019. This is a great group of technology and business-focused vendors and clients with a tight agenda that includes real-world scenarios and results. We will be there, so be sure to stop by our table, join our boardroom case studies and sit with us for a meal.
Xploration 18 – April 17-19, 2018
Xplor International is one of the only organizations in the world that focuses on educational, not vendor sales and promotional, print industry content for their conference agenda. Don’t worry though, they still have a well-attended vendor forum. But the significant value to people in the document and customer communications industry, sometimes referred to as Customer Communications Management or CCM, is benefiting from experts hailing from a wide variety of companies to share print and digital output knowledge without the hard product pitch at the end. Some of our own Solimar employees are Electronic Document Professionals certified through Xplor International. If you haven’t attended, it might be a worthwhile few days in Florida this April. The Agenda is live at Xplor.org and of course, you will find some interesting topics from our team like mobile production oversight and Variable Data Augmented Reality (VDAR).
2018 Solimar User Conference – May 8-10, 2018
For our Solimar team, this is one of the most exciting conferences we attend. Why? It is all of our clients and partners that attend and enrich the experience; they truly help drive the next phase of Solimar R&D. GRAPH EXPO 2018 – September 30-October 3, 2018
A staple of the print industry for years, GRAPH EXPO continues to be a place to look at the latest in digital, and offset printing technology. Over the years, software and workflow have continued to play a larger role in the conference with strong ties and partnerships with the print vendors. GEX, as you will hear it abbreviated, is truly someplace that is a one-stop-shop if you need to see as much as possible in a wide variety of printing areas in just a few days.
