Hunkeler Innovationdays 2017, Day 1 – Color, Colour, Farbe, Couleur, Colore…

It’s everywhere!

No matter what it is, a book, an invoice, a mailing piece, a statement. It’s there. It makes everything look so friendly, positive. As if to say, no worries honey, you can pay me, I’m just a friendly, good looking utility bill, or, I know you’re afraid of me, I’m your speeding ticket, but look at me how pretty I am, I deserve being paid.

We’re talking about color. Color and personalization.

Long gone are the days of grim black letters on white paper. Monotonous all for one and in one color transactional pieces. If anything, you have to look closely to find such outdated pieces of communication, at least here at the Hunkeler Innovationdays.

Each and every one of the printer manufacturers attending this event presents their color printer highlights. Mainly inkjet technology-based.

Technology rules

But let’s start at the beginning. If you’ve never been to the Hunkeler Innovationdays before, be warned, this is the place where the specialists meet. Everyone you run into here knows their business inside out. Every small-talk attempt quickly turns into a pleasant shoptalk, and before you know it, you got an update on nozzle cleaning, polymer technology, de-inking invention, improved UX design for print queue management, modular built of drying, cutting, sorting units and much more. How cool is this?

That’s one part of the exhibition.

Solutions rock

The other part is solutions. Everything and anything you need to make your printing operations more successful: estimation, calculation, composition, post-composition, analytics – you name it, it’s there (and well take a closer look at this side of the event tomorrow and will report back to you).

For us, in particular, it’s great to see partners and competition alike, meet and greet, exchange experiences and challenges. And while nursing our business headaches, we realize, even though we are just a very tiny cog in the big, global business wheel, the number of people we reach with our work is sheer overwhelming.
