Streamlining Workflow with SOLitrack 2.6, SOLsearcher Enterprise (SSE) 4.1, and Indexing Tools 4.1

Solimar Systems, with its track record of supporting production print centers globally for over 30 years, is here to unveil the latest updates in SOLitrack version 2.6, SOLsearcher Enterprise version 4.1, and Indexing Tools version 4.1. These upgrades introduce new features across various areas, including user interfaces, administration, security, and JDF (Job Definition Format).

SOLitrack and SSE in a Nutshell

SOLitrack and SOLsearcher Enterprise, collectively forming one of Solimar’s robust job management solutions, act as a production dashboard for streamlined job and mailpiece-level tracking. Here’s a brief overview of their most common uses:

Centralized Workflow Management:

As a dashboard, these tools offer a central console for job visibility, event notifications, and job tracking. They manage the entire production print workflow, from file intake to delivery.

Detailed Reporting:

SOLitrack and SSE record processing activity down to the mailpiece level. This historical data is a valuable resource for generating current and historical reports.

Job Distribution:

These solutions act as job distribution hubs, allowing users to manage when, where, and how jobs are processed via a user-friendly interface. This feature is particularly potent in inkjet environments where job scheduling, digital commingling, and batching are vital.

Archiving:

Documents can be electronically presented through portals, emails, and extracted for print.

Workflow Monitoring:

SOLitrack and SSE offer robust event notifications to keep users informed about processing status, including any issues that may occur or the successful completion of jobs.

What’s New in SOLitrack 2.6

The first notable enhancement in SOLitrack 2.6 is mailpiece-level processing control information. SOLitrack initially supported three piece-level state fields for controlling downstream processing. Now, you can add custom user-defined fields to provide additional information for piece-level tracking and control.

These fields enable you to automate unique actions based on piece states. For example, you could automate multiple divert options on an intelligent inserter, where each divert indicates special handling instructions for operators.

Regarding driving printers, SOLitrack supports JDF and JMF for information exchange. These are industry-standard protocols, but different vendors may implement them with proprietary syntax and commands. SOLitrack now offers additional options to specify printer control and device status updates for seamless integration with various vendor-specific implementations.

On the job-related front, you can now extract a user-defined ad-hoc range of pages from root or parent jobs. Additionally, you can create a subset job from a parent piece-level tracking (PLT) job. This feature is handy for reprints and test printing, enabling you to confirm settings like stock and alignment before proceeding with a full production run.

Exploring SOLsearcher Enterprise (SSE) 4.1

Version 4.1 of SSE and Indexing Tools introduces several exciting capabilities and features. First, SSE now supports the latest Windows and SQL versions. This upgrade elevates security, performance, and maintainability. To simplify system administration, you can start and stop a System Group from the command line executable program, making these actions script-driven. When indexing file name elements in a Document Archive, you can now specify a data type for each distinct segment of the file name parsed by a Regular Expression. This feature adds a level of flexibility and organization to the indexing process.

Security-specific enhancements are also part of this update. OpenID Connect identity provider setup mandates a redirect URI during the authentication, enhancing security. The client connection service now allows session validation without renewal, issuing a session expired error if the session has expired.

What’s New in Indexing Tools 4.1

Indexing Tools are crucial for obtaining job information by indexing content from PDF files. This indexed information is used in other Chemistry Platform components for controlling processing rules, marking information to pages, creating external files for inserters and accounting, and facilitating user searches within jobs.

Version 4.1 of Indexing Tools introduces several enhancements. You can now reorder the SDX objects tree display by simply dragging and dropping, making organizing and managing indexing fields easier. This feature allows you to specify the reading order of tagged content for accessibility screen readers.
